The Challenge

eOasia.com, is a travel platform offering itineraries and tour recommendations throughout Asia. The website was a major success, however, they faced high bounce rates when visitors transitioned from their blog to the booking platform. The goal of the project was to lower the bounce rate and create a user journey that would allow travelers to discover, book, and manage their travel activities smoothly.

Before and After

Starting with the blog revamp, I created wireframes followed by visual designs, adhering to the client's request for a simple re-skin that would convert visitors without altering core functionality. Key elements introduced included: carousels for featured content, enhanced search and filter options, and a modern, user-friendly interface. These updates ensured a seamless transition while maintaining the familiar structure that users were accustomed to, significantly improving brand recognition from the travel blog to the travel booking platform.

Travel Booking Platform

For the travel booking platform, I designed a comprehensive user flow to enhance the user experience from landing on a blog article to successfully completing bookings. Key improvements included: minimizing form fields on the checkout page, displaying product reviews and ratings, creating a prominent search bar, designing a hover-based drop-down header menus, and minimizing on-site pop-ups. These enhancements ensured a smoother, more intuitive user experience which reduced bounce rates and increased engagement.

The Results

The conclusion of the eOasia.com project were remarkable. Following the redesign, the client experienced a significant increase in sales due to the improved user experience. The enhanced website attracted more visitors, converted them into loyal customers, and significantly boosted overall engagement. As a result, the travel agency expanded its market presence and eventually attracted the attention of a larger corporation, leading to a successful acquisition. This project not only met but exceeded the client's expectations and demonstrated the impactful outcomes of a well-executed website redesign. Unfortunately, the company was later shut down due the Covid pandemic.
